RETAIL THEFT: On 11-18-15 the Student Resource Officer at Hempfield High School was called to the principal’s office for a report of a student not paying for food. The 14 year old female student was cited for retail theft.
On October 31st, 2015 the Swatara Police Department responded to a report of a vehicle accident on Highland Street. Upon arrival the officer found that the driver, Walter Miller, had crashed into two parked vehicles and a telephone pole. Miller was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI and taken to booking where he submitted to a blood draw to determine alcohol content. The results of the blood test were recieved and Miller has been charged with DUI and Reckless Driving.
On 11/20/15, Luis M. CINTRON-DEJESUS, age 52, of West Lampeter Twp, was arrested for shoplifting at Wal-Mart. CINTRON-DEJESUS concealed various merchandise, valued at $90.34, and exited the store without paying. The suspect was charged with felony Retail Theft based on prior retail theft dispositions and was committed to Lancaster Co. Prison.
On August 21st, 2015 the Swatara Police department responded to a vehicle accident at the intersection of Harrisburg and High Streets. At arrival the officer spoke to a witness who said they saw the driver, Edward Wallace, weaving left and right and striking a speed limit sign and then driving through a fence at Horner Memorial Park, the driver kept driving through the park and eventually stopped by the baseball field. The officer made contact with Wallace who was then taken into custody for suspicion of DUI.
On November 1st, 2015 the Swatara Township Police Department was dispatched to 6200 Derry Street for a hit and run crash. Officers arrived at the scene and spoke to a witness, who informed the officer that the driver, Tek Bastola, was seen backing up into a parked vehicle in the parking lot at the Pour House, Bastola failed to remain at the scene and continued driving. The witness followed the vehicle until Bastola stopped, shortly thereafter the police arrived to their location.
