A single vehicle accident occurred on Memorial Square when a tractor trailer operator failed to successfully navigate the fountain while heading west on Lincoln Way. The trailers rear tire struck a barrier causing it to separate from the rim. This separation caused a loud explosion that was heard from several blocks away. No injuries occurred and the fountain barrier sustained minor damage.
May 23, 2016-Commonwealth v. Edward Mitchell: On May 23, 2016, Edward Mitchell pleaded guilty before Dauphin County President Judge Richard A. Lewis to a series of robberies between February 12 and February 16, 2015. Mitchell’s robberies spanned through Lower Paxton and Susquehanna Townships in Dauphin County, as well as Enola and Hampden Townships in Cumberland County. Mitchell will be sentenced to 15 to 35 years in a State Correctional Institute for these robberies.
On 5/21/16 at 2243 hours, Harrisburg Police responded to the midtown area for a report of shots fired into a vehicle. The victim, B/M/41, reported that he had just been shot at and was following the suspect vehicle. Officers found and conducted a felony stop on the vehicle at Susquehanna & Kelker Streets. Officers detained several occupants and located a handgun as well as illegal drugs.
