The Pennsylvania State Police Troop N - Hazleton Station is investigating a fire in an unoccupied side of a double block home located at 148 Washington Street, Foster Township, Luzerne County, that occurred on Monday, February 8, 2021 at 1714 hours.

Foster Township Fire Department and multiple mutual aid departments responded and extinguished the fire.

The State Police Fire Marshal Unit responded to the scene to investigate, where it was determined the fire was intentionally set.

Investigators believe there may have been one or two individuals squatting in the home where the fire occurred. Residents in the area reported seeing two individuals walking around the neighborhood in the days prior to the fire.

Investigators believe the two individuals do not have a permanent residence and they frequently roam around the Freeland area.

The individuals were last seen wearing dark color clothing, winter hats and backpacks and are described as female with a small build.
