On 06/30/20, PSP Harrisburg CIU arrested John Wesley BUTLER III (B/M, DOB: 04/08/88) of N. 3rdStreet, Harrisburg for Robbery and related offenses.

He was transported to Dauphin County Central Booking for processing and arraignment. BUTLER’S vehicle, a 2019 Chevrolet Cruze, was seized and impounded.

The investigation remains open and active pending the identification of Actor # 2, who was operating a 2011 or newer Jeep Compass, black in color, during the Robbery.

Pennsylvania State Police Troop H – Harrisburg responded on 06/23/20 at approximately 1030 hours to the area of Venice Drive and East Canal Street, South Hanover Township, Dauphin County for a reported armed robbery.

Upon arrival, Troopers identified three victims who related that approximately 30-45 minutes prior, they engaged in a private sale of a vehicle at a PennDOT facility in Harrisburg City. 

Victim # 1 related he sold a car to a known individual for an undisclosed amount of cash and completed the necessary title paperwork.

Following the transaction, the victims were returning home in a separate vehicle.

Upon reaching the area of Venice Drive and East Canal Street, South Hanover Township, a black SUV approached from the rear, passed them, and forced their vehicle off the road. 

A second vehicle, described as a black sedan, then pulled in and blocked them from behind. 

Two black males, armed with handguns, emerged (one male from each respective suspect vehicle) and approached the victims, robbing them of their cell phones and wallets which included the cash of $4500.00 from the previously mentioned vehicle sale.

The victims advised that the actors then returned to their vehicles and fled the scene. The actors were not located.

Suspect Vehicles: Black in color compact SUV, possibly a Jeep Compass, 2007 or newer and a Black in color sedan, 2012 or newer.
