Media Release #2305, Missing Person/Theft, Dale Irwin Kerstetter, Unknown Suspect(s) – Bradford, McKean County, PA



The Pennsylvania State Police, Troop C, Kane, continue their search for Dale Kerstetter. 

On September 12, 1987, at approximately 11:15 p.m., an unknown masked suspect entered the Corning Plant and confronted the night watchman, Dale Kerstetter.  The masked suspect then directed Dale Kerstetter towards a room in the plant in which there was a furnace located.  Inside the furnace was a platinum pipe that was surrounded by fire brick.  Once entry into the room was made, the masked suspect forcefully entered the top of the furnace, removed the fire brick, and cut out the platinum pipe.  The pipe was initially valued at over $500,000.00.  The masked suspect then fled the scene. 

During the incident and after the masked suspect removed the pipe, Dale Kerstetter disappeared.  Dale has not been seen since.  It is unknown the involvement, if any, Dale Kerstetter had or if he was a victim to the crime as well.  The whereabouts of Dale Kerstetter and the unknown suspect are unknown.  Dale Kerstetter has been listed as a missing person since the commission of the crime.  Dale was a longtime employee of the facility and had just recently been demoted and moved to his current position of night watchman. 

Dale Kerstetter is described as a white male, height: 5’4”, weight: 130 lbs., red shoulder length curly hair, and blue eyes.  Dale was 52 at the time of his disappearance. 
He was last seen wearing a dark shirt and pants.
