The Pennsylvania State Police, Troop D, Mercer, continue their investigation of a bank robbery and attempted bank robbery.
On August 4, 2017, at approximately 3:00 p.m., the unknown suspect entered the Wesbanco Bank located at 600 Lawrence Avenue, Ellwood City, Borough of Ellwood City, Lawrence County, and attempted to commit a robbery but was unsuccessful. The unknown suspect was observed fleeing the scene in an early 2000’s model Ford Taurus bearing Ohio Registration Plates.
On August 4, 2017, at approximately 4:05 p.m., the same unknown suspect entered the Grove City Area Federal Credit Union located at 1600 South Center Street, Pine Township, Mercer County. The unknown suspect passed a note to the teller indicating that this was a robbery and removed cash from the drawer when the teller opened it upon his request. The unknown suspect was wearing identical clothing and was of similar stature and description as the unknown suspect in the previous robbery attempt. The unknown suspect was operating an early 2000’s model Ford Taurus bearing Ohio Registration Plates. The unknown suspect then fled West on SR208 after the incident.
The unknown suspect is described as a black/male, 5’6” – 5’8”, thin build, in his 20’s, black short hair, and goatee with a thin mustache. The unknown suspect was last seen wearing blue plaid bucket style or fishing hat, sunglasses, dark blue V-neck t-shirt, khaki shorts, and brown leather boots.
