Media Release #1960, Unidentified John Doe, Bear Creek Township, Luzerne County, PA
DATE FOUND: May 28, 1979
LOCATION: The victim was found on a wooded embankment just off of State Route 2041, in Bear Creek Township, Luzerne County, PA.
CIRCUMSTANCES: Two citizens who were walking to a fishing spot found partially decomposed remains. It is believed the victim had been shot and killed approximately 10-14 days prior.
VICTIM INFORMATION: The victim is a white male between 25-40 years of age. The victim was fully clothed and was wearing a sterling silver bracelet with “Vedon” on the clasp as well as a 14k gold serpent design ring on his pinky finger. The victim had been shot in the chest.
FORENSIC ANALYSIS: Victim was exhumed on September 26, 2016. Forensic Analysis by the University of South Florida is pending.
