Media Release #1958, Unidentified Jane Doe, Black Creek Township, Luzerne County, PA
DATE FOUND: August 9, 1973
LOCATION: Large cleared area to the north of Interstate 80 westbound, in Black Creek Township, Luzerne County, PA.
CIRCUMSTANCES: Partially decomposed remains were found by a motorist. It is believed the victim had been at that location 48-72 hours. The body was wrapped in a blanket that was fastened at the legs with a safety pin. The body had been doused with sulfuric acid.
VICTIM INFORMATION: The victim is a black female, age unknown. She was approximately 5’00” tall, 100 lbs., wearing blue-green shorts and a pink blouse with white lace trim. She was wearing blue slippers with a floral design. Her hair was pulled back in a 2” ponytail and she had an upper dental plate containing six teeth.
FORENSIC ANALYSIS: Victim was exhumed on September 26, 2016. Forensic Analysis by the University of South Florida is pending.
