Media Release 1953, Unidentified Jane Doe, Union Township, Lebanon County, PA

DATE FOUND:  October 10, 1973

LOCATION:  Wooded area off of State Route 443 near Fort Indiantown Gap, Union Township, Lebanon County, PA

CIRCUMSTANCES:  Partially decomposed remains were found by two Game Commission Officers who were on patrol.  The victim’s nude body had been covered with green plastic tarps, leaves, and brush.  It is believed the victim's body was there at least one to three weeks.

VICTIM INFORMATION:  White female between 13 - 19 years of age.  Blonde or light brown hair.

FORENSIC ANALYSIS:  Chemical Isotope testing was conducted to estimate where the victim came from. Overall, the strontium and lead isotope data are consistent with local, USA origin of birth. Elements from her diet such as carbon and oxygen are also consistent with this finding, however the oxygen isotopes show that she most likely grew up and resided in states to the South and Southeastern USA during the last decade or more of her life.
