Pennsylvania State Police Troop B – Waynesburg Barracks responded on May 15, 1976 for a homicide investigation in East Bethlehem Township, Washington County.

John Joseph WAPINSKI, 80-year-old W/N Male, was found lying inside the lady’s restroom in WAPINSKI's Tavern which he owned and operated. 

WAPINSKI had been struck once in the head with an unknown implement and then shot once in the head with a .22 caliber weapon. 

WAPINSKI died the next day in Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. 

The motive appeared to be robbery.
