The Pennsylvania State Police -Troop E - Erie Station, continue their investigation into the homicide of 25-year-old David Edward Menzies Jr. 

On 06/25/1978 at 12:32 AM, David Menzies Jr. was found deceased in the basement of his home which was located on the west side of Cherry St. Extension, Summit Township, Erie County. 

Menzies wife was sleeping in her bedroom at the home when the incident occurred. 

She heard Menzies scream sometime after she had fell asleep.  After hearing the scream, she looked for him, but she couldn’t find him in the house. 

Menzies wife then contacted her father, who lived next door, and asked for help.  Menzies Father-In-Law came to the residence and found Menzies deceased in the basement. 

Menzies died from a single .22-caliber wound to his chest. 

No firearm or sign of forced entry was discovered.
