On 11/28/2022 at 2215 hours, the Womelsdorf Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle bearing a Michigan registration.
Upon contact with the driver, there was a strong smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The driver was identified as 50-year-old Steven Pensel.
Officers observed bags, a crate, and a metal box in the vehicle.
Field sobriety tests were conducted. When multiple law enforcement officers attempted to take Pensel into custody, he began to fight.
Officers deployed a taser twice, but Pensel was able to re-enter the vehicle.
He struck officers with the vehicle causing minor injuries, before taunting officers to shoot him, and fleeing the scene.
The vehicle was found in Myerstown, Lebanon County, and was determined to be an Enterprise rental car.
The previously mentioned bags, crate, and metal box had been removed from the vehicle.
